Every year, Republic Day (Ganatantra Diwas) is celebrated in capital city of New Delhi on a grand scale with a grand parade on Rajpath, New Delhi.
This Republic Day Parade starts from the Raisina Hill near the Rashtrapati Bhavan and moves along the Rajpath, past India Gate.
This Parade commonly known as Delhi Republic Day Parade, showcases India’s Defense Capability, Cultural and Social Heritage.

This main attraction of India’s Republic Day Celebrations extents for 4 days starting from 26 January and ending with the Beating Retreat ceremony which takes place on 29 January at Vijay Chowk which officially Marks the end of Republic Day festivities.
Delhi Republic Day Parade Celebrations :
The Republic Day Parade is presided over by the President of India (Rashtrapati) and every year there is a guest of honour for Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi who is head of state or government of another country.
Before the Republic Day Parade starts, the Prime Minister of India first lays a wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate, in memory of all members of the armed forces who gave up their life for the nation. After that there is a 21 gun salute, unfurling of the National Flag and singing of the National Anthem.
After that the Parade activities start with President of India presenting the gallantry awards like Paramvir Chakra, Ashok Chakra and Vir Chakra and others to their respective winners.
Now the Republic Day Parade starts with winners of gallantry awards saluting the President in open military jeeps.
This is followed by display of various tanks, missiles and other military equipment showcasing India’s Defense Capabilities.
After this there is march-past of different regiments of the armed forces, police, Home Guards and National Cadet Corps.
This is followed by a vibrant parade which consists of tableaux from different States and cultural dances by school children showcasing Cultural and Social Heritage of India.
After this Children who have been awarded the National Bravery Awards (Rashtriya Veerta Puruskar) rise past the spectators on colourfully decorated elephants on the parade route.
The parade finally concludes with daredevils motorcycle riding on road by Janbaz a unit of the armed forces and simultaneously a flypast by Indian Air Force fighter jets over Rajpath.
